VAN NUYS, Calif. (Nov. 21, 2011) – Corporate philanthropy and community pride were on display today as Mercury Insurance, Valley Motor Center and the Recycled Rides Program donated a rebuilt 2006 Toyota Sienna to New Horizons, a San Fernando Valley charity dedicated to helping adults with developmental disabilities.
This was Mercury’s second year working with Recycled Rides, a nationwide project in which members of the National Auto Body Council (NABC) donate their time to fix damaged cars provided by insurance companies.
“New Horizons is such a great organization and the work they do means so much to those they serve,” said Matt Williams, who oversees Mercury’s Customer Authorized Repair Service program. “Their dedication to help those in need matches our own and it serves as a reminder to all of us at Mercury that together we can do great things for both the community and our customers.”
Mercury Insurance donated the vehicle, a 2006 Toyota Sienna with low mileage, and Valley Motor Center donated the parts and labor, using its own expert metal and paint technicians to totally recondition the vehicle. Mercury also included a GPS navigation unit and a gas card, and Valley Motor Center will also take care of oil changes for life at no charge for New Horizons.
“This vehicle will be put to immediate use,” said Sue Weitkamp, New Horizons board member and former president. “It will allow us to extend our reach and increase the number of homes and businesses to which we can offer transportation services.”
